Important information about air purifiers

Bad air pollutes and can make you ill

Regular exposure to poor indoor air quality often has serious and lasting negative effects on health and the body. Especially when you consider that everyone breathes around 14 times a minute and 20,000 times a day. The lungs have to endure a lot here and have to work really hard to filter the harmful particles and impurities out of the air. It is obvious that this must lead to real problems in the long term.

Some tips, such as well-intentioned ventilation - depending on the location - often only bring new pollutants, allergens and particles into the room and may even worsen the indoor air. Did you know that you breathe in and out at least 10,000 liters of air every day? Pollutants enter the body with every breath. However, our lungs are not a filter for polluted indoor air. What we can't fight off makes us tired and unfocused or even ill.

It has been proven that dust particles can enter the airways and lungs via the nose. In the worst case, the smallest particles of dirt can even make it into the blood vessels and the brain. They are then transported to the organs via the bloodstream. This results in headaches, tiredness, poor concentration and respiratory diseases. However, chronic conditions (bronchitis or COPD) and acute illnesses (pneumonia, lung cancer) are also promoted. The risk of heart attacks and strokes also increases. Therefore, use an air purifier to filter dust and other pollutants out of the air.

Protect your lungs - filter technology from IDEAL air purifiers
Air purifiers with innovative filter technologies and activated carbon filters can reliably remove all these substances from the air. Because our lungs are not a filter for polluted indoor air. An air purifier from IDEAL removes the smallest particles such as pathogens, allergens, chemical compounds and odors from polluted indoor air. Highly effective filter technology purifies the room air by almost 100 %. The air purifier also captures distant particles and optimally distributes the fresh, purified air throughout the room. With these devices, the filter and purification system is the most important factor.

IDEAL Classic air purifier for getting started with air purification

The two air purifier models IDEAL AP25 and IDEAL AP35 ensure clean and healthy indoor air. These are available in two performance sizes for rooms of 16 - 35 m2 and 25 - 45 m2 and can therefore be used flexibly in all rooms. The air purifier's multi-layer filter reliably removes pollutants and contaminants such as dust, fine dust (PM10, PM2.5 and smaller), pollen and other airborne allergens as well as pathogens such as bacteria and mold spores, cigarette smoke, exhaust fumes, chemical vapors (formaldehyde, toluene, VOC,...) and odors from the indoor air. And all this with very energy-saving and whisper-quiet operation of the air purifier. The current air quality is automatically monitored and continuously displayed via light elements.

IDEAL professional air purifier for professional air purification

Bring clean air into your everyday life with an air purifier "Made in Germany". IDEAL air purifiers are modeled on nature, but are significantly more effective. The highly effective multi-layer air filter permanently removes pollutants from the room air. The OptiFlow system also captures distant pollutants and distributes the purified air optimally throughout the room. Air purifiers are ideal in the home, office, home office, bedroom and everywhere else.

IDEAL AP PRO appliances with top values are simply whisper quiet

In addition to room size, filtration performance and air flow rate, the noise level at which an air purifier operates is also a decisive factor in deciding whether or not to buy a room air purifier. This is where the IDEAL AP PRO devices impress with their extremely quiet operation. The volume of a room air purifier is perceived completely differently depending on where it is placed.

What makes our air purifiers so quiet
Thanks to the perfect interplay of many components, IDEAL AP PRO air purifiers are among the most powerful and quietest air purifiers on the market. The flow-optimized air routing and the highly efficient fan achieve a high air flow rate even at the lowest filter level. The IDEAL AP PRO models operate ultra-quietly in the background in night mode.

IDEAL AP PRO appliances with highly effective filter technology and outstanding performance

The multi-stage 360° smart filter system, consisting of a fine pre-filter, HEPA and activated carbon filter, guarantees maximum air throughput and optimum filtration for every air purifier. The circular design makes optimum use of the filter surface. The air flow optimally captures even distant particles. For fresh air - everywhere in the room.

Layer by layer to clean air
This 5-stage air filter technology of our air purifiers reliably removes pollutants and impurities such as fine dust, pollen and other airborne allergens, pathogens and mould spores, cigarette smoke, exhaust fumes, chemical vapors and odours from the room air. And this with a cleaning performance of 99.99 %. Even MPPS ("Most Penetrating Particle Size"), the most difficult to remove particles up to 0.3 micrometers in size, which can cause illness, are removed. Our air purifiers reliably filter viruses and bacteria out of the room.

Frequently asked questions about air purifiers

What is the difference between an air purifier and an air washer?

You can't see it or smell it, but indoor air is full of dangerous and fine particles and pollutants. Such poor air quality not only affects our health and performance, but also our well-being. Healthy air is one of the most important things in life. Our IDEAL air purifiers rid the room air of everything that pollutes it. You can feel the difference: thanks to the air purifiers, you breathe clean air and feel good. In the office, at home and in all your favorite places. IDEAL air purifiers are the air cure for your rooms. With a broad product portfolio and the use of the highest quality materials and components, IDEAL sets standards in air purification. IDEAL air purifiers are modeled on nature, but are significantly more effective. This is because the highly effective, multi-layer filters permanently remove pollutants from the room air.

The 2-in-1 device combines air purification and humidification in one and guarantees a healthy indoor climate all year round. A highly effective, multi-stage cleaning system reliably filters pollutants and contaminants from the air: dust, fine dust (PM10, PM2.5 and smaller), pollen and other airborne allergens as well as pathogens such as bacteria and mold spores, cigarette smoke, exhaust fumes and odors. If required, the appliance can also ensure optimum humidity (thanks to a hygienic cold evaporation system). This is because bacteria and viruses can remain suspended for longer in dry room air. This often results in an increased risk of colds, infections and allergic respiratory diseases. Targeted air humidification using an IDEAL humidifier counteracts this.

How exactly does an air purifier work?

The air purifier draws the room air into the interior of the appliance using fans. The room air is cleaned inside the appliance by several filters and is returned to the room as clean air. Each filter fulfills a specific purpose by cleaning the air of certain pollutants. These specially developed, multi-stage filters remove pollutants from the room air - including respirable and ultra-fine particles (nanoparticles), which can make you ill.

Pre-filter grille
The pre-filter grille surrounds the 360° multi-layer filter and removes coarse dirt such as hair, fluff and dust.

Pre-filter layer
The pre-filter removes coarse particles and extends the service life of the HEPA filter.

HEPA microfiber layer
The microfiber layer filters even respirable and ultra-fine particles (PM2.5, PM0.3).

Activated carbon layer
The activated carbon neutralizes even chemical substances, NO2, ozone and strong odours.

Cover layer
The cover fleece protects the high proportion of activated carbon.

Filter with 360° arrangement
The 360° cartridge design ensures effective use of the entire surface and a high air flow rate.

The five filter layers of our smart filters capture smaller and larger particles as well as gases and molecules. They also filter the so-called MPPS ("Most Penetrating Particle Size"), the most difficult to separate particles with a size between 0.1 and 0.3 micrometers. Thanks to the round design, the filter surface is optimally utilized.

When is an air purifier useful?

There are many reasons for this. Air purifiers can minimize the following risks and problems, among others:

1. Allergies
Suitable air purifiers filter numerous allergens out of the air. And where there are no allergens, there are no allergy symptoms.

2. Breathing problems
Air purifiers remove dust, gases and chemicals, allowing you to breathe freely.

3. Air pollution
Even fine dust, nitrogen oxides or ozone are reliably captured with the right filter technology.

4. Droplet infection
Air purifiers filter pathogens and thus reduce the risk of transmission through the air or by smear infection.

5Headaches
Pollutants in the air put a strain on the body and are often the cause of discomfort and headaches.

6. Mould
Air purifiers remove mould spores, which often pollute the air in buildings unnoticed.

7. Bad smells
Persistent or recurring unpleasant smells are a stress factor for many people. This can be eliminated or at least significantly reduced with air purifiers.

8. Reduced performance
Stale air is often enough to impair performance and well-being. Air purifiers can also help here.

What effects can poor indoor air have?

According to the Federal Statistical Office, every employee in Germany is on sick leave for an average of 15 days per year. The number of allergy sufferers is also rising steadily: One in five Central Europeans already suffers from allergies and allergic asthma. This is a serious development in which the air plays a significant role. In the search for the trigger for complaints and illnesses, the air is often overlooked, but polluted indoor air is a risk that should not be underestimated. When inhaled, dust particles can enter the respiratory tract and lungs via the nose. In the worst case, the smallest dirt particles can even make it into the blood vessels. They are then transported to the organs via the bloodstream. This results in headaches, tiredness, poor concentration and respiratory diseases. However, chronic illnesses (bronchitis or COPD) and acute illnesses (pneumonia, lung cancer) are also favored. The risk of heart attacks and strokes also increases.

Which pollutants can contaminate indoor air?

Whether at home or at work, we spend up to 90% of the day indoors. Whether we are working, sleeping, shopping or eating, we mostly do this indoors. We rarely think about the air we breathe indoors, but it can be much more polluted than the air outside. Possible contaminants in indoor air include, for example:

Bacteria and viruses
They are so small that they can only be seen under a microscope, which is why they are called microorganisms. For us, this means that we have no chance of recognizing them before we come into contact with them. Bacteria and viruses can be found everywhere. And they spread rapidly, especially in (large) gatherings of people.

Pollenand allergens
Allergy sufferers often have a particularly hard time at home, at work and in other indoor spaces. Dust allergy sufferers are exposed to irritants all year round, and for pollen allergy sufferers, every time they air the room during the season, their symptoms worsen. Mites, mold and chemical substances can also trigger or promote allergies.

Particulate matter
Particulate matter is one of the most dangerous pollutants for our health, as it can penetrate the sensitive areas of our respiratory system. Prolonged exposure to particulate matter is harmful to our health and shortens our lives. Particulate matter kills around 7 million people every year. According to studies, particulate matter also increases the risk of heart attacks and lung cancer and can even trigger diseases such as Alzheimer's and dementia. Particulate matter coming in from outside is also a dangerous issue indoors.

Odors and chemicals
Vapors, odors and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs), nitrogen dioxide, ozone and formaldehyde are transported and absorbed through the air. Depending on the substance, excessive quantities of these indoors can lead to discomfort and some even to serious health problems: Irritation of the respiratory tract or impairment of the nervous system. Some substances are even said to have a carcinogenic effect. Some air purifiers work with so-called ionizers - these generate ozone and thus ensure fresh air. But not the IDEAL air purifiers.

Do air purifiers help with allergies?

Yes, definitely. Air purifiers reliably remove the smallest particles such as allergens and pollen from polluted indoor air. Thanks to the highly effective, multi-layer filters, up to 99.99%. This can significantly alleviate allergy symptoms and health problems. They therefore ensure greater well-being and quality of life as well as improved concentration and performance.
IDEAL air purifiers also take into account the fact that the number of allergy sufferers is increasing. They have been awarded the ECARF seal of quality for their high allergy-friendliness and are also certified for the medical sector, as evidenced by the "tested hygiene" seal of approval.

What are the reasons for buying an air purifier?

There are many reasons for purchasing an air purifier. In particular, the presence of certain complaints in rooms that can be traced back to polluted indoor air speak for its use. Problems are often caused by pollen, mold spores or even bacteria and viruses. But other environmental influences such as particulate matter, car exhaust fumes, nitrogen dioxide, etc., which are a major issue in cities in particular, also affect our indoor air and ourselves. In addition, vapors, for example from floor coverings, furniture, adhesives, etc. (so-called VOCs), have a negative impact on our indoor air. Even short-term activities such as smoking, cooking, burning candles or using scented oils in lamps worsen the air we breathe. Renovation work also releases pollutants and can have a massive impact on indoor air. And, of course, we ourselves are also largely responsible for the negative impact on our indoor air. We consume oxygen and release carbon dioxide, water vapor, excess heat and body odors into our environment. All of this speaks for the use of an air purifier to improve indoor air quality. Our guide in the form of an air primer in DIN A6 format also provides further information.

How loud is an air purifier?

The volume of an air purifier is perceived completely differently depending on where it is placed. For example, it makes a difference whether a device is used during the normal course of the day in an (open-plan) office or at night in the bedroom. This is because the volume, which may be almost imperceptible during the day due to the wide range of ambient noise, can be perceived as extremely disturbing at night. The volume is specified in dB(A) and varies depending on the selectable power levels.

Air purifiers are generally trimmed for throughput and filtration performance. In the case of IDEAL air purifiers, another crucial component has been taken into account: noise development. The result is an ultra-quiet night mode, but also high performance and a pleasant operating noise. All IDEAL AP PRO models operate whisper-quietly in the lowest mode (night mode), are virtually inaudible and impress with their above-average running smoothness. For example, the IDEAL AP40 PRO shines in terms of operating noise with a peak value of 16.7 dB(A), putting it at the top of the market comparison. The air purifiers of market competitors with a comparable air flow rate have significantly higher measured values of between 22 dB(A) and 32 dB(A).

In comparison to these appliance running noises, the rustling of leaves when there is no wind or quiet breathing, for example, generates a value of 10 dB(A), the normal operating noise of a refrigerator is 40 dB(A), a conversation between several people is 60 dB(A), a television is running at approx. 70 dB(A) and a main road about 10 m away generates a disturbing noise level of approx. 90 dB(A).

What makes the IDEAL AP PRO air purifiers so whisper-quiet?

There are several reasons for this: The built-in fans - consisting of the EC motor and the impeller - have a decisive influence on the quiet running of the IDEAL AP PRO appliances. The impellers, which are manufactured in one piece from high-tech composite material, are characterized by optimum aerodynamics. Their shape was continuously optimized using complex simulation models in comparison with measurements on prototypes. The result is an optimum, low-loss flow through the impeller, i.e. the highest possible air performance is achieved with the lowest possible fan speed - and the pressure loss in the air purifier is minimized. In addition to its extremely high energy efficiency and compactness, the built-in GreenTech EC motor also contributes to ultra-quiet running behavior. Together with its robust design and maintenance-free operation, it sets completely new standards.

All AP PRO models are equipped with these fans specially developed for IDEAL. It is a decisive advantage that the fan has been designed as an overall component and the individual components are therefore optimally matched to each other. The issue of "quiet running" is also supported by the fact that all components within the air purifier are arranged in an absolutely flow-optimized manner. This uniform flow profile results in fewer noise sources and therefore improved, quieter acoustics.
In night mode, all illuminated displays are also dimmed. The IDEAL AP PRO models are therefore also ideal for use in bedrooms or children's rooms.

How long do the filters last and how often do I have to change them?

The average service life of a filter tends to be 12 months. This is based on an average pollutant load and operation of the air purifier in automatic mode. The service life of the filter depends on the degree of air pollution and the intensity of use of the appliance. In a smoking room, for example, the filter needs to be replaced more often than if the air purifier is used to protect against pollen. And then, of course, the daily duration of use of the air purifier is decisive. It is therefore advisable for the appliance to have an automatic filter change indicator - as is the case with IDEAL air purifiers. If the filter is not changed often enough, it loses the necessary filter effect. In turn, it can even blow the filtered substances back into the room air. The same applies to replacing the filter cassette, which can be changed quickly and easily by anyone. Thanks to the integrated filter change indicator, you are always on the safe side and consistently good air quality is guaranteed.

What is the best location for an air purifier?

The general rule is: as central as possible. The ideal installation location for an air purifier is therefore (theoretically) in the middle of the room, as air can be drawn in equally unhindered from all sides, the air can be released back into the room just as easily and nothing actually stands in the way of optimum air circulation. In practice, however, it is rarely possible to place an air purifier in the middle of the room without compromising freedom of movement or appearance. In some situations (e.g. after smoking indoors), however, it makes sense to place the air purifier in the middle of the room for a certain period of time, let it run there for a while until the desired effect is achieved and then put it back in its "normal" place.

How much electricity does it cost me to operate the air purifier?

For optimum air purification, an air purifier should run 24 hours a day, seven days a week. However, conventional room air purifiers consume up to 550 kWh per year. However, air purifiers from the IDEAL AP PRO series can be operated around the clock without hesitation, e.g. in automatic mode. This monitors the air quality and adjusts the performance of the appliance according to the air quality. In addition, features such as an automatic timer or the choice of different power levels offer great flexibility. The appliances in the AP PRO series are particularly energy-efficient. Motors with innovative EC technology guarantee high performance - with very moderate energy consumption.

Sample calculation for electricity consumption per year:
24/7 operation AP40 PRO automatic mode
365 days a year (8,760 hours/year)
95 % of the time at level 1 (at 5 watts)
5 % of the time at higher levels (on average at 10 watts)

Total consumption of 46.1 KWh per year (total costs depend on the current electricity price)

Which air purifier do I need for my room size?

In order to achieve optimum performance, it is important to observe the specified number of square meters (m²), as the air purifier is designed for the respective room size. A device should be selected that can filter a sufficient amount of air for the respective room size, because only then can optimum cleaning performance be achieved. To achieve this, all appliance components must work together perfectly: Filter technology, fan and sensors. This is crucial in order to achieve a very high air flow rate and maximum cleaning performance.

Thanks to highly effective and multi-stage filter technologies, the IDEAL AP PRO air purifiers filter up to 99.99% of particles and pollutants from the room air in a highly effective and particularly efficient manner. These include pollen and other allergens, fine dust, pathogens, bacteria, mold spores, animal hair, cigarette smoke and even chemical vapors and odors. In addition to an ideal cleaning performance, the IDEAL AP PRO air purifiers ensure a very good air flow rate of up to 800 m3 per hour. When placed in the right room size, the entire room air is circulated or exchanged 4 to 5 times per hour (air exchange rate). Thanks to the intelligent air sensor system, odors and particles are permanently measured and optimum air quality is guaranteed.

IDEAL model/ Ideal for room sizes
IDEAL AP30 PRO / 20-40 m²
IDEAL AP40 PRO / 30-50 m²
IDEAL AP60 PRO / 50-70 m²
IDEAL AP80 PRO / 70-100 m²
IDEAL AP140 PRO / 120 - 160 m²

What pollutants does my IDEAL air purifier filter out of the room air?

IDEAL air purifiers remove a wide range of particles and pollutants from the room air. The multi-stage 360° smart filter system, consisting of a fine pre-filter, a long-life HEPA filter and an extra high proportion of activated carbon, guarantees maximum air throughput and optimum filtration. The circular design makes optimum use of the entire filter surface. The air flow of the 360° smart filter system in the air purifier optimally captures even distant particles. For fresh air - everywhere in the room.

This multi-stage filter technology with 5 layers removes pollutants and impurities from the room air extremely reliably. These include:

  • Bacteria & viruses
  • Pollen & other allergens (animal hair, house dust, etc.)
  • Particulate matter
  • Odors & chemicals
  • Mold spores

And this with a cleaning performance of 99.99 %. The five filter layers also remove the so-called MPPS ("Most Penetrating Particle Size"), the most difficult to separate particles with a size between 0.1 and 0.3 micrometers, which can cause illness.
